FOOD!!

I know it may seem silly but I actually day dream about food. Let me start by saying that every workday for the past 3 years or so I went to chick-fil-a for chicken mini's and a sweet tea and then went out to eat for lunch. So, I'm not used to having to make myself breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. I don't really like Japanese food so I don't get to excited at the thought of going out to eat here. And they don't have high chairs which makes for a complete nightmare with Gavin. We do have a Chili's and although this was one of my favorite stops a few months ago, I'm a little burnt out on it for now. I want Olive Garden salad and bread sticks, Chick-fil-a sweet tea, Sonic's Fritos chili cheese wrap, MEXICAN FOOD, (i have started making my very own yummy salsa) Ferrucci's, The Captain's Table, Uncle Ernie's, Smitty's even Waffle House sounds wonderful at the moment. I'm not really sure what the point of this blog is other than to point out that I'm going through major food withdrawal and I've had to learn how to cook! Matt is enjoying having a real meal every night but I don't have a dishwasher and I HATE WASHING DISHES!

From that to this...

Before we got here we decided that we would get one car from a dealer and just by a beater for Matt. There is no such thing as a nice car here so while we were at the dealer looking at cars for me, nothing really made me excited and we just picked something. You can't test drive cars here, you just go based on looks. We decided on a Nissan Skyline. After driving this car for a few weeks I found that I HATE IT. I feel like I'm driving on the ground and it is actually painfull getting Gavin in and out of the back seat, even though it's 4 doors. The thought of having to do this pregnant didn't set well with me nor did the idea of having to deal with a rear facing car seat in a few months. After going around with Matt about it he finally agreed to let me look for something bigger and he will drive the Skyline. I wanted an SUV, this is what I'm used to. While the Japanese don't care for such big cars, the SUV are geared towards the military and you get the military special when purchasing one.... they are so overpriced! I decided on a minivan. NEVER did I see myself driving a Minivan! I miss my pimped out Acadia very much! Matt thinks i'm going to kill someone with such a big car but really it's not bigger than my Acadia was. And I'm finally getting used to driving on the wrong side of the road. So now that I feel like I've just aged 10 years I will say that I actally kind of like my new mini van. Haha!

Ok, I'll do it!!

Since finding out we were moving to Japan I've been told that I really need to start blogging. Here I am 2 months later and after feeling like I repeat myself with every new conversation I've decided maybe it's not such a bad idea. So, we'll see how long it last and if I'm able to keep it up.

We finally got out and did something this weekend! We've been talking about going to the Ocean Expo Aquarium for weeks now but the weather has always been horrible on Matt's off days. Saturday turned out to be a perfect sunny day so we went for it. After a little research on how to get there we were off. It took us about 10 minutes to find the Expressway but amazingly we got there and back without getting lost. It's on the north side of the Island so it was a good little drive. It's was breathtakingly beautiful! We road along the coast most of the ride and it was so peaceful and exciting to finally be doing something

I thought "it can't be that busy, I'm sure everyone that lives here has already seen the Aquarium". Boy was I wrong! There were bus loads of people, so we hung back for a few minutes until everyone past so that Gavin could walk freely. He seemed to really enjoy himself. He didn't say much but just stood and looked in amazement. I had to pull him away from the first window and of course I couldn't explain to him that we had plenty more to see. After a while he caught on. We didn't get to see everything they have to offer but we decided to call it a day after lunch because I'm sure we will be back when family comes to visit.
